Measures Submitted by the Voters

For information on how to submit a Measure to the voters, please review the California Elections Code.

The City Clerk's office received a Notice of Intention to Circulate a Petition on January 31, 2024 for an initiative measure to provide funding for the construction of a new main library and community center at Albert Park. In order for the Initiative to be qualified for the ballot, the proponents (filers) are required to follow the CA Elections Code's process:

    Arguments for or Against the Measure

      • Each primary argument must be filed with an Argument Submission Form, and an Argument Signature Form.
      • No more than five signers for any argument.
      • If representing an organization, association, or governing body, filers and signers must have written authorization on letterhead signed by at least one of its principal officers or members and submitted with the argument.
      • Names and titles will appear in the Voter Information Pamphlet exactly as written on the Argument Signature Form.
      • Primary arguments are limited to 300 words.
      • Filers or signers are not required to sign the hard copy argument, but must sign the Argument Signature Form which meets the ‘accompanying’ requirement as stated in the Election Code.

    Next Steps

    The City Council approved the certificate of sufficiency of signatures received by the proponent and adopted the resolution placing the citizen-sponsored initiative on the ballot for November 5, 2024.
