Often referred to as the center of the Canal as it serves as a gathering place for the Canal neighborhood, the Albert J. Boro Community Center provides classes, activities and events including martial arts, dance, open-gym sports, and art classes for children, adults and older adults. In addition to City run programs, the Center partners with local organizations to provide programs as well as space for non-profits, private businesses and individuals to rent and hold activities for the community or their families. The Center is also home to San Rafael’s popular Day of the Dead Celebration.
Rental space is available for meetings, seminars, workshops, weddings and parties. The Center features three multi-use classrooms with large dry erase boards and projection screens, an art room, gymnasium for basketball and volleyball, a large multipurpose room that can accommodate up to 200 seated, and a kitchen. The Cyr Miller Multipurpose Room features round tables, a sound system with podium, stage, a redwood deck overlooking the park and bay, and a kitchen that is available for an additional flat rate when renting the Multipurpose Room. Enjoy our 8,300 square foot gymnasium with basketball and volleyball, two outdoor sports fields, picnic area with 10 picnic tables and a newly renovated charcoal BBQ, and brand new playground, computer lab, and the 6,000 volume Pickleweed Library. The facility is accessible for disabled persons.

Staff/attendant Fee*: $26/hr weekdays, $50/hr weekends
Security services may be required. If required, rates will be included on your rental contract. Current security rates are $40.00 per agent per hour. If more than eight hours add $15.00 per hour per agent. Agents are scheduled 30 minutes before guests arrive and will remain 30 minutes after end of event.
Liability insurance is required for all events. Renters may provide their own coverage or purchase insurance through the City for the day. When purchased through the City, the fees will vary according to the type of event.
