Community Development - What We Do
Our mission is to make San Rafael a great place to live and do business. We are committed to improving the quality of life in the community. We do this by:
- Fostering public involvement and creativity by establishing enthusiastic partnerships with all segments of the community;
- Assisting decision makers and the public in formulating and implementing policies which balance environmental, economic and social needs for the present and future;
- Processing development permits in a timely and solution-oriented manner, and ensure that new construction is an asset to its surroundings; and
- Ensuring the safety and maintenance of buildings, property and neighborhoods through enforcement of codes, public education with cooperation with other City Departments and public agencies.
