This job assists in the development and management of public works construction projects or programs through every phase, including mapping, drafting, reporting and field inspection. We are seeking a candidate who is up to the challenge of working in a dynamic department. This job will require creative problem-solving, community engagement, and relationship building.
The position would assist the Land Development and Encroachment permitting divisions, which process more than 800 permits annually. The Junior Engineer works with other department staff to review permits for land development standards, proper traffic control and vehicular/pedestrian safety, and coordinates private construction citywide.
Working closely with the supervising Associate Civil Engineer and the Community Development Department, the position will also assist in the review of planning and building permits for private construction and development work in the right-of-way. Importantly, all grading permits, tideland permits, and other land development permits are also reviewed by the Land Development division.’
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
