Community Services Director Position

The City of San Rafael is also seeking to fill the Community Services Director position that is being vacated due to an upcoming retirement.  The Community Services Director oversees a solid team of managers and leads five divisions:  Administration, Facilities, Community Programs, Youth and Family Services, and Falkirk Cultural Center.  The department consists of 52 full-time staff, over 200 part-time/seasonal employees and 200 contract program providers. Deputy Public Works Director Position

The City of San Rafael is also seeking to fill a new Deputy Public Works Director position. The Deputy Director will oversee traffic engineering planning, land development, facilities and fleet maintenance services.  The successful candidate will be an accomplished leader who possesses complex project management and administrative skills.  The ideal candidate will have experience managing public works traffic engineering and land development projects, strong fiscal and business acumen, strong communication and customer orientation skills. This is a great position for the candidate who is looking to work in a professional public works environment where staff are encouraged to reduce bureaucracy and make things happen.  Requires registration as a Traffic Engineer with the State of California.

To be considered for this position, you must successfully pass the Firefighter Candidate Testing Center (FCTC) Entry-Level Firefighter Written Exam and be placed on the FCTC statewide list.  Please visit the FCTC to register for the exam and learn more about the exam process, requirements and scheduled exam locations/dates.  If you have previously taken the written exam through the FCTC and are active on their list, your results will be accepted and you do not need to participate in another written exam.

The San Rafael Fire Department will receive a list of candidates from FCTC and will notify candidates of their eligibility to apply for this position.  Interested candidates are strongly encouraged to create a personal profile with CalOpps to save time in the event that they are invited to apply after FCTC results are available.
