The City Hall building will be closed to the general public on Fridays from June 6, 2025 through August 29, 2025. San Rafael Community Centers, Libraries, Al Boro Parking Services, and all Public Safety services will remain open and maintain normal Friday hours.
San Rafael Community Center required replacement heating and cooling equipment. Work began with an industrial crane removing the rooftop AC unit, and delivering a new unit. The indoor heating unit was also replaced. Having the rooms climate controlled helps keep all the patrons and staff happy.
Protective padding around the backboard of basketball hoops is a key feature that provides added protection and safety. The Facilities team moves into the final phase of construction of the City Hall Gym. Subfloor Reinforcement, heavy-duty rubberized floor mats were installed, as well as wall base and paint. The room is now ready for workout equipment to be put into place!
The front push bumpers are designed to absorb an impact and to reduce the damage done to the vehicle in case of a minor collision. The Parks Department will replant the trees along McInnis Pkwy that were previously lost due to drought and stress. The trees were planted as a part of the Cool Parks grant program. The program, which is funded through CAL FIRE, aims to reduce carbon and greenhouse gas emissions by planting urban trees.
Sometimes collisions happen. On a recent day, a pedestrian barrier that informs pedestrians that they cannot cross the street in this location was hit and knocked down.
