Project Description
The proposed project includes a major redevelopment of the existing Wildcare facilities with new animal hospital, educational, and animal housing facilities. Wildcare is a wildlife hospital, nature education center and wildlife advocacy organization. The proposal includes: relocating and restoring the historic Terwilliger Building; demolishing all other existing structures on the site; constructing a new 11,400 square foot attached three-story animal hospital and office building along with a new courtyard for gathering spaces and for the educational Ambassador Animals. In addition, the applicant proposes to install a new bridge crossing the San Rafael Creek and to improve the portion of the creek adjacent to the property by removing invasive plants and planting appropriate native plants.
Project Status
The Design Review Board (DRB) conducted a Conceptual Design Review for the project on December 6, 2022. The project will need to come back to the DRB at some time in the future for a formal recommendation to the Planning Commission. This design review application will subsequently need to receive approval from the Planning Commission at a public hearing.
