Update on SMART Extension to Larkspur

SMART Train

SMART is getting closer to opening its extension to Larkspur and is currently testing the train control and railroad crossing warning systems along the newly constructed portion of track from San Rafael to Larkspur. This work was preceded by the construction of a new intersection at Andersen Drive, “flipping” the road and the railroad tracks to create a new Francisco Boulevard West, and other improvements. A new multi-use path is now open along a portion of the extension. SMART has been completing their testing on weekend nights. Regular updates on the testing schedule will be posted on SMART’s website as they become available. City staff will be presenting an update on the work going on for the Larkspur Extension and providing an update on the Federal process to put Quiet Zones in place.
