San Rafael’s Sidewalk Repair Program has helped numerous residents repair the sidewalk in front of their house. Once the new sidewalks are in, the Parks Department works with the homeowners and helps plant new trees to replace any that were removed during the process. The new trees, selected by the homeowner from a list compiled by the Parks Department, have a lower potential to cause root damage to the new sidewalks. The Parks Department planted over trees this winter with more to come in the next week.
