On the evening of Thursday, October 30, Captain Roy Leon and Officer Genesis Ortiz represented the San Rafael Police Department during the Canal Alliance Leadership Academy Graduation. The Canal Alliance Leadership Academy provides local community members and volunteers with the training needed to strengthen their advocacy skills and to inspire them to become civic leaders while building trust between the residents and local authorities. Students learn how government woks and how to advocate for community needs. Captain Leon and Officer Ortiz provided encouraging words to the graduating class and to the approximately 100 community members in attendance.
