San Rafael Channel Dredging – remember to apply!

Posted on January 7, 2022

On Friday, May 28, 2021 the Fiscal Year 2022 President’s Budget was released, and included $6,750,000 for San Rafael Channel Dredging. On July 2, 2021 the City sent a letter to all San Rafael Channel (Canal) waterfront property owners with an update on dredging and the Umbrella Permitting process, given that the Channel was now awarded $6,75m towards dredging in the 2022 President’s budget.

All private dock owners: please review these images. If you have not yet registered, please verify whether or not you would like to be included on the 10-year maintenance dredging permits.

  • Property owners wanting to participate in the Umbrella Permit can still sign up by filling out the online form at cityofsanrafael.org/dredging
  • Property owners who have already signed up for the Umbrella Permit should review proposed dredging limits for their property at: cityofsanrafael.org/documents/channel-private-property-footprint/
  • For property owners who do not wish to participate in the City’s aggregate Umbrella Permit, no action from this letter is required

Updates on dredging can always be found at www.cityofsanrafael.org/dredging.
