Rental Deposit Appeal Process

If a person believes a deposit has been reduced or retained unfairly or in error, they may appeal by submitting a written appeal letter to the Library and Recreation Director at the San Rafael Community Center (618 B Street).  The appeal letter shall state the name, mailing and/or email address, and telephone number of the person appealing and the reason for the appeal.  Upon receipt of the appeal, the Library and Recreation Director shall obtain a report from the Library and Facility Supervisor and may, but shall not be required to, schedule a meeting with the person appealing.  The Library and Recreation Director shall issue a written decision on the appeal within 30 calendar days after the filing of the appeal specifying whether the deposit is to be returned in part or in full or retained by the City.  The Library and Recreation Director’s decision shall be final.
