How do I get around the city?

We have lots of great local bus routes provided by Marin Transit. Golden Gate Transit also provides regional bus service to San Francisco, the East Bay, and Sonoma County. San Rafael is also connected to the North Bay 101 corridor by the SMART Train.

You can conveniently pay for all types of Bay Area transit with a Clipper Card (bus, ferry, BART). You can buy one online or at the San Rafael Transit Center.

For schedules and times, there’s always trusty Google Maps. There are a million great apps out there for transit times and schedules, but one that we like is Transit App.

Riding your bike is an awesome way to travel. There are tons of great bike paths and routes throughout San Rafael and Marin. The Marin County Bicycle Coalition makes a great bike route map for the entire county. Or take a trip around the Bay with the Bay Trail! And in your spare time, check out the amazing history of cycling in Marin.

Need a car? There’s a carshare pod in Downtown San Rafael on B Street.

Want to take the ferry? Check out Golden Gate Ferry’s online schedule for service between Larkspur or Sausalito and San Francisco!
