The Parks Department has been busy working on getting the baseball field ready for the next season. This year the crew was able to utilize their new verticutter. The verticutter helps level the field between the turf and the skinned area to help reduce the lip that forms along the turf edge. The crew reestablished the turf edges along the entire field and replaced any dead turf areas with new sod. They also installed additional sub-surface drip to the third baseline to help deal with a chronic dry area before covering it with new sod as well. Next up will be rebuilding the pitcher’s mound, installing a new home plate and new base posts, conditioning the skinned area for better playability, and adding new material to the warning track area
