City of San Rafael Welcomes Angela Robinson Piñon as New Assistant City Manager

 

SAN RAFAEL, CA – The City of San Rafael is pleased to announce the hiring of Angela Robinson Piñon as Assistant City Manager. With a distinguished career spanning nearly two decades in the public sector, Angela brings a wealth of experience and expertise to San Rafael.

Over the years, Angela has held many positions within the public sector, most recently serving as the Deputy City Administrator for the City of Oakland. Her contributions have been instrumental in implementing legislative procedures, citywide project labor agreements, and process improvement strategies. Her efforts have driven significant advancements in the housing and safety elements of the Alameda County General Plan, along with the creation of historic preservation and scenic corridor ordinances.

In her capacity as Assistant City Manager, Angela will provide oversight and leadership in various key areas, including Human Resources, and Digital Service & Open Government. Angela will also spearhead critical projects and initiatives, including citywide budget support, contract management, labor relations, diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, and community engagement.

“Angela brings a wealth of experience to the City and her proven track record makes her an ideal candidate for this role,” stated City Manager Cristine Alilovich. “We are excited about the valuable contributions Angela will make in supporting the accomplishment of the City Council’s goals and objectives.”

Angela holds a Master’s Degree in Public Management from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Columbia University.

Angela’s recruitment was facilitated by the executive search firm, Bob Murray & Associates. Her role as Assistant City Manager comes with a starting monthly salary of $20,480.
