Friday Night – The City of San Rafael’s Code Enforcement Division, Police Department and Marin County EHS conducted a joint code enforcement effort on Friday, July 11, starting at about 6:15 pm and concluding about 9:15 pm.
- 13 unpermitted food vendors were contacted
- EHS confiscated about 500 lbs of food
- SRPD wrote a couple parking citations and obtained information on vendor owners
Code Enforcement will follow up on the collected information and will send out Notices and Orders to the addresses we collected, most of which were workers that had been dropped off from Sacramento, Richmond, or Oakland. A couple other vendors left the area before contact could be made.
Further, Code Enforcement made contact with and gave a warning to a merchandise vendor that had a state business license but not a city business license.
Saturday Night – On the following night, staff from the City of San Rafael’s Code Enforcement and Police Departments conducted additional action. Two food tent vendors and four food carts were shut down (two of the vendors had returned from the previous night). Due to lack of identification, warnings were given and staff waited until the vendors packed up.
