Fire Station 57 – Training

Posted on September 6, 2019

Fire Engine 57 used during vehicle exhaust (Plymovent) training

The City of San Rafael will have its second Fire Station project completed soon! The new Fire Station 57 will become an integral part of the community and will allow our Fire Department to maintain their commitment to the residents of San Rafael.

Fire Department personnel have started to receive training on the various new systems installed in the new building. One of these systems is Plymovent, a protective measure that eliminates harmful emissions by capturing vehicle exhaust and removing it from the station. This is essential because diesel engines, which are used in fire trucks, produce a mixture of gases and particulates from the combustion process. It is important for the City to create healthy and safe working conditions by reducing these vehicle exhausts.
