To combat over-parking in East San Rafael, the City Council took action in December to create a parking ordinance that allows the city to limit the time allowed for cars to park in this overused area of San Rafael to a maximum of 24 hours. Since that time, staff has been developing the signage and painting changes required to implement the new ordinance. Signs have now been ordered and the installation is expected to occur beginning in early July and will be complete by the end of August. Once the signs are up, Parking Services will begin enforcement, first with warnings for thirty days and then by issuing citations and possibly towing cars that are parked for too long.
