During the current public health crisis, the City of San Rafael remains committed to protecting the health and safety of community members and employees, while also striving to deliver public services to the greatest extent possible. The City has shutdown in-person customer service and public counters, including City Hall; however, businesses licenses can still be processed online by visiting this page. The hotel tax can also be processed online

About the Finance Department

The Finance Department provides financial information, policy analyses, and recommendations that help the City Council and all City Departments make decisions about how to allocate resources.

Our department accounts for those resources and discloses the financial condition of the City and the results of its operations in the year end Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. The department also prepares an annual operating budget.
