The Third Street Rehabilitation project went to the City Council on February 7, 2022, for the award of construction agreement with Ghilotti Bros. Inc., in the amount of $20,800,000. The project is a joint venture between the City of San Rafael, the San Rafael Sanitation District, and the Marin Municipal Water District. The Third Street corridor is one of the busiest arterials in Marin County and a major thoroughfare through San Rafael to West Marin County. The construction is anticipated to start in March and last through the Summer of 2023. Along with the award of construction the City Council also authorized reimbursement agreements for the Marin Municipal Water District and the San Rafael Sanitation District that will allow the utilities to be invoiced and pay reimbursable expenses.
