Renewal Notices
Renewal notices have been sent to all businesses with active San Rafael business licenses expiring December 31, 2017. The City accepts cash, checks, money orders, and most major credit cards. Payments may be made via credit card or eCheck if renewing online.
Closed or Relocated Businesses
Closed or sold your business? You can close your account online or email the Business Tax Division at BLRenewal@cityofsanrafael.org (please be sure to include the approximate date you closed or sold the business).
Moved your business to a new location within city limits? Please submit a new business license application for review by city planning and fire prevention officials.

Certificates
Keep in mind that we removed the expiration date from the face of our business license certificates. That means you can reuse the same certificate as long as the name and address remain the same. You just have to renew in a timely manner. Expiration dates can be seen on our online business directory.
