Bulky Item Disposal Program for Multi-Families
The City of San Rafael and Marin Sanitary Service have partnered together to provide multi family residents free bulky item disposal services. Property Managers now have three service options to help your tenants dispose of bulky items safely and prevent illegal dumping. There is NO CHARGE for this service. Each property manager or owner may choose the option(s) that works best for them, as long as the service equals up to two cubic yards per unit, twice a year.
OPTION 1: Debris Box Service

HOW TO: Property Manager contacts Marin Sanitary Service to request debris box service. Debris box placement must be approved by MSS; encroachment permit may be required if put on the street. Building must have space for the debris box and collected material must not exceed 4 cubic yards per unit per year. No electronics or hazardous waste will be accepted. OPTION 2: On-Call Pickup
HOW TO: Property Manager can request on-site collection of up to two pickups, up to 2 cubic yards per unit, per year. Property Manager must request service for the resident and identify the items to be removed. Allow a minimum of 48 hours’ notice for pickup.
OPTION 3: Resident Coupons
HOW TO: Property Manager can request up to two coupons per year, per unit for residents to bring bulky items to Marin Sanitary free of charge. This coupon can be redeemed by the property manager or resident. Allow up to one week for delivery by mail.
