INCIDENT SUMMARY

Fire units arrived on scene to find a fire burning on the roof and involving a spray booth exhaust fan. Firefighters entered the building to ensure all occupants were evacuating, and also checked the two attached apartments to confirm everyone had safely exited. Heavy black smoke was observed coming from the rear of the building where an automotive spray booth was located. The fire was determined to be above the booth, involving an exhaust duct, ceiling, and roof area.

Firefighters mounted an aggressive attack from both inside the building and on the roof. The fire was brought under control within approximately 20 minutes. Damage was confined to the spray booth, exhaust equipment, and a portion of the roof. Residents of the adjacent apartments were able to return once the area was deemed safe.

A person working in the auto body shop received minor injuries attempting to control the fire prior to our arrival. The employee was treated at the scene and released.
