2023 Sewer Rehabilitation

To complete repair and replacement of deteriorated sewer main, sewer laterals, and manholes.

In 2019, the District televised and assessed approximately 11.5 miles of sewer main from 4-inch to 36-inch diameter and manholes throughout central San Rafael near the US Highway-101 and nearby adjacent streets, using the Pipe Assessment Certification Program (PACP) rating system. In 2023, the District entered a Professional Services Agreement with Schaaf & Wheeler to perform an analysis for the 2019 Pipeline Condition Assessment Report, compile a list of sewers recommended for replacement and prepare a set of bid documents.

The project consists of repairing and replacing segments of pipes between manholes, which total approximately 2.7 miles of sewer main. The pipe sizes are  6 and 8 inches in diameter. This project also includes the replacement of 215 laterals and rehabilitation of 76 manholes, located at more than 34 locations across San Rafael. The first area works are below:
