Sequence of  Operations:
There will be no on street parking in the active construction area.  On street parking will remain available in the blocks surrounding the work area.  Parking will also be available in the public parking lot located next to United Liquors.

The sidewalk removal will occur in two phases to allow maximum public access to the businesses and residences.  In the first phase, the contractor will sawcut the sidewalk approximately 4’ from the existing buildings and the sidewalk between the the sawcut line and the street will be demolished. Public access will continue on the four foot section.  The public will be protected from the demolition by a railing.

Once the area between the curb and the sawcut section is completed, the section nearest to the building will be demolished and removed.  During this phase, pedestrain traffic will be relocated to the parking lane in the street and adequate safety delineation provided.  The contractor will construct access bridges to each business or residence.

Using this two phase system will limit the impact to businesses and residences.  It is anticipated that each construction stage will occur over eight weeks but the impact to the businesses will be limited to the time that the contractor is demolishing and replacing the sidewalk directly in front of the business access.

 Standard Stage Sequence:
1. Sawcut 3’-4’ from building (public use of 3’-4’ area)
2. Demolish portion of sidewalk and curb and gutter
3. Construct joint trench
4. Grade form and pour curb and gutter
5. Place irrigation and light foundations
6. Adjust utilities to grade
7. Switch public to streetside
8. Demolish 3’-4’ concrete sidewalk
9. Grade form and pour sidewalk
