SAN RAFAEL PUBLIC LIBRARY: LOANS, LIMITS, FEES, FINES, AND OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR BORROWERS
Please note the Marin County NEW LIMITS beginning March 1, 2006. All Marin County public libraries now limit the number of items that may be checked out on one library card:
DVD and VHS
10 item limit
Music CDs
10 item limit
Books on CD or tape
5 item limit
BOOKS
50 item limit
These limits are subject to individual libraries' own limits. See below for San Rafael Public Library's rules. Please be sure the number of items already checked out on your card plus those you intend to check out will not exceed the limits. Thank you for your cooperation.
ADULT
Books: 3 week loan, 3 per call number, 3 NEW fiction, overdue fine $.25/day, reserves $.50, maximum late fee $10, may be renewed for 3 weeks if not on reserve.
DVDs: 1 week rental, limit of 5 per day, $2/week rental plus $.50 for additional days, must be returned to San Rafael Public Library.
VHS tapes: 1 week loan, limit of 5 per day, overdue fine $.50/day, may be renewed for one week.
Audio Books on CD and Tape: 3 week rental or 6 week rental, limit of 5 per day, $1/3 weeks or $2/6 weeks plus $.25 for additional days, maximum late fee $10, must be returned to San Rafael Public Library.
Compact Discs: 1 week loan, limit of 5 per day, overdue fine $.25/day, may be renewed for one week.
JUVENILE
Books: 3 week loan, 2 per subject, overdue fine $.10/day, maximum late fee $2, no charge for reserves for children.
J Videos: 1 week loan, 10 per visit, overdue fine $.25/day, maximum late fee $7.50, NO renewals.
J DVDs: 1 week loan, 3 per family, overdue fine $.25/day, NO renewals.
J Audio Books: 3 week loan, 5 per family, overdue fine $.10/day, may be renewed.
Story/Music Cassettes: 3 week loan, no limit, overdue fine $.10/day , may be renewed.
Story/Music CDs: (purple label), 3 week loan, no limit, overdue fine $.10/day, may be renewed.
CD-ROMs: (pink label), 3 week loan, 1 per family, overdue fine $.10/day, NO renewals.
J Magazines: 3 week loan, overdue fine $.10/day, may be renewed.
OTHER INFORMATION AND CHARGES
Books lost or damaged beyond use: Cost of the book plus an $8 non-refundable processing fee. (No refunds after 3 months.)
A/V Materials: any parts lost or damaged - cost of replacing the entire item, if necessary, plus $8 processing fee.
Damage (ink markings, stains, etc.): $4 damage fee
Missing or damaged A/V cases or bags: $3 fee
Lost library card: $1 for replacement card
Internet printing: $.10/page
Color printing from Internet (see Reference): $1/page
Interlibrary loans: $.50 within MARINet, $1 within North Bay Cooperative, $7.50 elsewhere
