SAN RAFAEL CONNECTS
As part of our efforts to reach out to the greater San Rafael Community, the City Council and staff are introducing a new City-wide outreach plan. We are seeking to continue to build connections and positive relationships with our community members through partnerships, advancements and improvements that enhance and sustain the quality of life in San Rafael.
Therefore, in 2008, San Rafael will be launching "San Rafael Connects" a new framework for communication with our neighborhoods, businesses and the general community.
We've established four "San Rafael Connects" (SRC) teams, consisting of staff from multiple departments, which will serve in a designated area of San Rafael. Each SRC team is responsible for learning about and understanding the community, culture, and concerns of the residents, businesses and groups in its specific area.
This new outreach program will have City staff contacting specific associations, organizations and leaders in each area (including service agencies, homeowners associations, civic groups, schools, faith groups, etc.) to ask:
- What do you like about your neighborhood? What's going well?
- What questions do you have about City services in your neighborhood?
SRC Teams will be asking for and listening to neighborhood input, providing information, and responding to what has been presented by the various groups and organizations. This allows us to put a face on local government services, build positive relationships, and share our story of the many happenings in our City.
Given limited budgets and staffing levels, however, this new outreach program is not intended to result in the City spending new money on any major new initiatives or projects. New initiatives will be considered during the regular review of the City's goals and objectives.
