Downtown Business Improvement District (BID) Board of Directors

Over 20 years ago, the Downtown San Rafael Business Improvment District (BID) was formed as an assessment district of the City of San Rafael for the businesses fronting Fourth Street between E and Lincoln and some of the side streets. It includes retail businesses and excludes financial institutions, service businesses and professionals. The BID’s purpose is to revitalize and promote the downtown business area and they do this through community events and downtown marketing. The BID also serves informally as a downtown merchant association, as it brings together merchants and professional people to increase economic activity for all in the downtown and make the downtown a fun, safe and friendly place in which to eat, shop and live.

The BID board is an advisory board to the San Rafael City Council regarding the recommended expenditures for the funds collected each year.

For information on the BID, visit their website at www.downtownsanrafael.org, or call Joanne Webster, Executive Director, at (415) 720-5591.
