Marin County faces a multitude of hazards including: earthquakes, wildfires, and flooding. To address these public safety risks, a simple and free two-hour emergency preparedness class is being offered to all households and businesses in Marin County through the Get Ready Household Disaster Preparedness Program.
BY TAKING A GET READY CLASS YOU WILL:
- Gain the necessary information to protect yourself and your family during a disaster
- Learn how to create emergency kits for your home, work, and car
- Learn about local emergency communication systems and emergency resources
- Learn how to become a survivor and feel empowered to take care of yourself and those around you
WE'VE HELD TRAININGS FOR...HOAs, Rotary clubs, Lion’s Clubs, Mother’s Clubs, businesses in the area, Universities and Colleges, to a handful of neighbors simply looking out for one another. Consider hosting a pizza and preparedness party over a lunch break at the office, or gather a handful of your neighbors, some close friends or family members and have a training over dinner or a Saturday brunch. Trainings can be done in just one hour if there’s a time constraint.
WANT TO HOST YOUR OWN TRAINING? Minimum attendance requirement is 12 people in order to host a private Get Ready class. We've got a great cadre of volunteer instructors, can work with you to secure the RSVPs and have all of the promotional material you'd need to generate interest in the training. All attendees receive a Get Ready Household Disaster Preparedness manual with suggested emergency supply lists and tips for developing emergency plans. Contact the San Rafael Office of Emergency Services to find out more about setting up a private training.
