New Community Center Opens!

Pickleweed Park Community Center and Library is open!
On Saturday, July 15th, 2006, the community celebrated the completion and opening of the Pickleweed Park Community Center and Library. The Pickleweed Park Community Center and Library, completed after seven years of planning, is a 24,000 s/f facility that includes space for community meetings, events, after-school programs, literacy, technology, education, library, social and recreation activities and programs. The newly completed center is a renovation and expansion of the former Pickleweed Park Community Center. The building has a 6,000-volume library, 16-station computer lab, homework center, general classrooms, a community room that accommodates 300, an art room, gymnasium and teen lounge. It will host community programs and is available in part for private rental. The $8.5 million project was completed with dedicated funds from federal, state, county and local government sources, plus grants from eleven philanthropic foundations, with corporate and private donations. The facility is managed by the San Rafael Community Services Department. Please call (415) 485-3333 for more information.
