Reserve a Computer Online

Using Computers on the second floor, Adult Area

What we have:

Free Wifi Hotspot at the Library

  • Wi-Fi: The library offers free Wi-Fi access to patrons who have their own laptops. There are four stations to plug in for electrical power.
  • 10 computers with access to the Internet, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Computers numbered SRF1 through SRF4 are one-hour stations.
  • Computers numbered SRF5 through SRF10 are half-hour stations.

  • You can use up to two hours a day of computer time if you have a library card.
  • You can have two reservations or bookings on your card at any one time, including the computer you might be currently using.

  • 6 Online Public Access Computers for the library catalog which show all the library’s holdings, and can be used to renew your books, check your record and pay fines. You don’t need your library card to search the library catalog—only if you seek access to your personal account, in which case you will also need your PIN.

To use the Library Online booking system:

  • You need to have a valid library card and PIN.
  • Visitors may request a one-time guest pass at the Reference Desk.
  • Temporary “Internet Use Only” cards are available at the Checkout Desk with
    current picture identification.

How to get a PIN:

  • Go to the MARINet catalog at http://marinet.lib.ca.us/
  • Log in to “My Marinet”
  • Type in your name, library card number and what you want your PIN to be (select something that you are likely to remember) and submit. Note: You will have to enter your information twice.
  • If there is a problem with your attempt, call the reference desk at 485-3321.
  • If you have forgotten your PIN, staff at the Reference Desk can delete your PIN and you can input a new one. This has to be done in the library, not by phone.

Reasons why your card might not work:

  • It may have expired. Cards are updated every three years. Visit the checkout desk to update your record.
  • You may be typing in the wrong barcode or PIN.

How Library Online works:

  • You can book time using the online reservation system on any library computer or
from an outside computer. From outside the library, go to srpubliclibrary.org and click on “Reserve a Computer.”
  • Make sure you take note of what computer is assigned to you—this appears at the very end of your reservation. The computer ID starts with “SRF” for our library.
  • There is a 5-minute grace period for each time slot. If someone is more than 5
minutes late, they forfeit their reservation. Someone else can sign up for the balance of the session.
  • The computer online reservation system will not allow you to sign on 5 minutes before a new session begins.
  • The computer clock determines the time for each session, not the wall clocks.
  • You will be given an eight minute warning and a two minute warning to save your work before your session ends. The computer will automatically log you out when your time is up.
  • To save work, bring your own disk or buy one at the Reference Desk for $1.
