Kamishibai or picture card storytelling, developed in Japan before the advent of television. Storytellers traveled on bicycles with picture frames attached, narrating stories as they displayed the corresponding illustrations. Today, kamishibai is a popular form of storytelling in schools and libraries. Take a trip to Japan as we present this traditional form of storytelling, as well as Japanese songs and fingerplays in English and Japanese.
