The Community Development Department is composed of three divisions: Planning, Building & Fire Prevention, and Code Enforcement.

Planning Division

The Planning Division is responsible for processing applications for new development and for long range planning of the City, including maintaining the General Plan which establishes policies for future growth. The Planning Division provides staff support for the Planning Commission and Design Review Board. The Planning Division provides handouts to help make application process easier. Building & Fire Prevention

The Building & Fire Prevention Division is responsible for enforcing the various construction codes to ensure public safety. To contact the Building and Fire Prevention Division, please call (415) 485-3365 during business hours (weekdays, 8:30am-5:00pm).Click here for e-Permits.

Code Enforcement

The Code Enforcement Division enforces provisions of the Zoning OrdinanceHousing Code and other City Ordinances. The Code Enforcement Division can be reached at (415) 485-3097. Appointments recommended.
