The City Manager's office carries out the policy and directions of the Mayor and City Council and supports the Council's efforts to engage in legislative advocacy on the local, state and national level, advocating the City's interests and increasing the City's influence as a leader in good government.

DEPARTMENT GOAL:
To advise the City Council on policy matters and manage the operations of the City of San Rafael with economy, efficiency, equity and effectiveness.
City Manager Ken Nordhoff
City Manager, Ken Nordhoff, is responsible for the administration of City services and programs
Assistant City Manager, Jim Schutz, acts as the City's Chief Administrative Officer providing oversight to Human Resources, Information Technology, and Emergency Services through the Management Services Department and serves as a principal advisor to the City Manager.
